Situated in the lap of the mighty Himalayas, the eastern part of Nepal is home to some of the most picturesque tea estates in the world. The Mist valley tea garden, one of the most famous tea estates of this region, is located at an altitude of approximately 1,300 metres in the quaint and beautiful mountain village of Jitpur. Founded by the late Asal Bahadur Limbu, an ex-Gurkha major, Mist valley started cultivating tea from the year 1989 and produces approximately 100,000 kgs of premium tea per annum. As the region is often engulfed by mist and fog, the tea estate got its rightful name some decades back.
